The University of Washington's Football Statistical Crew was chosen to keep statistics for the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Rose Bowl games. Dr. Heyamoto was the defensive statistician for all eleven events, plus the 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 National NCAA Championship Games.

Dr. Heyamoto worked as the defensive caller for the 2018 CFP Championship Game in Atlanta when Alabama defeated Georgia.

Dr. Heyamoto was the defensive statistician for the CFP Championship Game in Tampa on January 9, 2017 where Clemson defeated Alabama 35-31 in a stunning finish. He also covered the defensive stats for the 2017 Rose Bowl game between USC and Penn State in Pasadena on January 2nd.

Dr. Gary determined all the defensive credits (tackles, sacks, pass defensed, interceptions, fumbles caused/recovered) for the 2016 Rose Bowl Game and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game between the Clemson Tigers and the Tide of Alabama on January 11, 2016 in Glendale Arizona.

He was the defensive statistician for the 2015 Rose Bowl and the NCAA National Championship Game played on January 12, 2015 in Dallas between the Oregon Ducks and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

"It was such an unbelievable experience to participate in such a magnificent event."

The 2010 BCS National Championship Game also utilized the University of Washington's Statistical Crew with Dr. Heyamoto making all the defensive calls. Dr. Gary had that opportunity again in 2014 when the final BCS Championship Game was played.

An ice pool table and an ice Rose Bowl sculpture could be found at the BCS pregame media party.

The Rose Bowl, in Pasadena, was the site of the BCS National Championship Game between the University of Texas and the University of Alabama on January 7th 2010.

Back again in 2011, this time without a PAC-10 team in the game, Dr. Gary kept the defensive statistics for the Rose Bowl Game between TCU and Wisconsin.

The slugfest on January 1, 2011 ended up with the Horned Frogs of TCU winning 21-19 over the Badgers of the University of Wisconsin.

On January 2, 2012, the Oregon Ducks beat the Badgers of the University of Wisconsin in the 98th Rose Bowl (and Russell Wilson as QB). Dr. Gary called the defensive credits by determining tackles/sacks, fumbles caused/recovered, interceptions and pass knockdowns.

On January 1, 2013, the University of Wisconsin appeared in and lost their third straight Rose Bowl, this time losing to Stanford. Dr. Heyamoto, once again, determined all defensive calls.

"My view for calling/keeping game defensive stats at the Rose Bowl."
ESPN came to Seattle on October 12, 2013 when their football GAMEDAY program was produced on campus. Dr. Gary was issued a pass to view the behind-the-scene activities.
