Dr. Heyamoto was selected by a vote of his peers to be included as one of "Seattle's Top Dentists" as reported by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and more recently, again for 2019. He was also recognized in Puget Sound Consumers' Checkbook issue as one of Seattle's Top Dentists as well as being listed as one of "America's Top Dentists" of 2019 by the Consumer's Research Council of America.
In October of 2016, my brother Craig was honored by the University of Washington as the recipient of the Dr. Don Palmer Award. This prestegious Big W Club recognition is awarded to a non-athlete who has exemplified a special commitment to the UW Athletic Department. My younger brother, Brian, and I were present when Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen presented him with his recognition award at the Husky Hall of Fame Banquet.
Dr. Heyamoto has been awarded his second Lifelong Learning & Service Recognition Award. Past late AGD President Howard Gamble, DMD, FAGD says, "For Dr. Heyamoto, this award symbolizes a career of excellence in dentistry and demonstrates the characteristics of a role model to his fellow dentists and to members of the community."
At the time of his recognition, only 6 of the AGD's 37,000-plus members had received the prestigious LLSR twice.
Dr. Heyamoto has received his third Lifelong Learning & Service Recognition in San Francisco on June 20, 2015. To date about 41% of AGD members are Fellows, 8% are Masters and less than 1% have been recognized for their lifelong learning and service activities. Of all general dentists in the U.S., only about 16% have achieved Fellowship, 3% Mastership and less that .3% have earned the AGD LLSR. It takes 350 hour of certified lecture, 150 hours of hands on training and 100 hours of community volunteer work for each LLSR award. So three LLSRs is rarefied air indeed. Nationally, Dr. Heyamoto is one of the first to achieve this status.
Dr. Heyamoto has become one of two dentists to have received his FOURTH Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition on July 20, 2019 in Hartford Connecticut.

In October 2016, Dr. Gary was named WA AGD's Dentist of the Year at the annual Oral Cancer/Membership Gala. He was surprised (shocked) to be honored in front of family and friends. "I'm greatly appreciative for this recognition which should be shared amongst all the volunteers and givers in this organization. This was a total surprise."
In May 2018, Dr. Gary was named Snohomish County Dental Society's Special Recognition / Dentist of the Year Award for voluntary community service. Pictured is 2017 award recipient Dr. Nhi Pham presenting the recognition plaque.
